A friend of mine asked my opinion of this record via facebook and I unloaded this large response. Partially because this record deserves such a large response and partially because I already had most of the ideas outlined. Here is the minimally edited response and a live performance video after the jump:
Phoenix has been around for a good many years. Having ties with heavy hitters such as Daft Punk back in France, this great French band finally broke into a larger success of their own. Jumping their way into the American mainstream with their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, they have had such success that on January 2010 they even earned a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
I have loved this whole album for quite some time now. I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I do.
Miike Snow, hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, blend a dash of indie cred to their extremely polished dancy hooks. As Paul Lester from The Guardian puts it, “coolly emotional pop suggests a-ha meets Animal Collective.”
I have been listening to this band for quite a while now. I hope you enjoy them as much as i do.
Here is a live performance of their hit “Animal” performed for Myspace Transmissions.
B.R.M.C. have been kicking ass and taking names with their gritty, Americana dashed, strait Rock & Roll sound, for over ten years now. Guitarist and singer, Peter Hayes, is no stranger to great music as he was a part of the infamous The Brian Jonestown Massacre. B.R.M.C.’s website announced on March 3rd, 2009, that they are in the studio for their 5th album. They are also planning on releasing a Live DVD from their Baby 81 world tour in October, with their new album to follow early next year. (thanks to Jez for correcting me)
Here is “Spread Your Love” off of their freshman release “B.R.M.C”
I just picked up ‘We Were Promised Jetpacks‘ freshman release entitled ‘These Four Walls.’ I have been playing this album none stop for a while now. This quientet hailing from Edinburg, Scotland have put together a very fantastic record. From the dancy drums to their thumping basslines this album will sure have you hooked.
